A WOMAN'S RITE:

Join us April 30th - May 30th, 2010 for the final show of the Lyric's2009-2010 season, and the World Premiere production of A WOMAN'S RITE,created by women from the Lyric Theatre family. Fridays & Saturdaysat 8pm and Sundays at 4pm at the Lyric, 520 N La Brea in Los Angeles.

Written by women from the Lyric Theatre family, A WOMAN’S RITE is anexploration into the multifaceted emotional life of women and theirrelationships to one another, to men, and to themselves, told through acreative weaving of original stories, popular songs and a celebratorysharing of wine, food and, the ever-essential, chocolate.

Directed by Lyric favorite Chrisanne Blakenship-Billings, audienceswill enjoy the silly and the serious as they move along to toe-tappingfavorites like “Go the Distance,” “Tomorrow Morning,” “I’m Still Here”and a special interactive sing-along to the Peggy Lee classic; “Cuz I’ma Woman,” plus many more. All played to perfection by Musical DirectorBill Newlin, and featuring original music by Christina Ownby.

While A WOMEN’S RITE is a perfect opportunity for women of all ages togather and share in the universal truisms of womanhood, the play isalso applicable to boys and men who are equally honored in the piece asthe husbands, fathers, sons and brothers who bring “magic to our lives.” Beverages, including wine, and light snacks will be served to the audience and are included in the cost of tickets.Food is provided by local restaurants on La Brea including, but notlimited to, Verranzano’s Pizza, located on La Brea and Melrose. And don’t forget to celebrate mom on Mother’s Day! A complimentary glass of champagne and rose for every mother in the audience!

MOTHER'S DAY TRIBUTE:

Sat. May 8th at 2 p.m.....An afternoon for loved ones to share theater that will touch the heart. Dear Mother: A Mother's Day Tribute is a celebration honoring Mother's Day 2010 with songs and stories, dance and drama. Love and poignant family memories are revealed in the presentation of actual letters written to mothers- here or departed - as submitted to the Dear Mother web site. Light refreshments will be served. Bring your mom, or mom invite your children.
