Darby Cahill - Managing Director / Press Manager >>
Darby Cahill grew up on Bainbridge Island in Washington and is a graduate of USC with degrees in theatre and public relations.  She also received a minor in public management.  Cahill is the Managing Director of the Lyric Theatre.

The first play that really inspired me to become involved in theatre was a touring production of the musical, “Footloose.”  I had recently moved from Texas to Washington and the play was about a young kid struggling to fit in and I thought, “That’s me!”  Plus, actors were jumping on trampolines!  From then on, I was addicted to theatre and became involved in a number of children’s theatre programs.

Flash-forward to college where I became the manager for a wonderful a cappella group named Troy Tones at USC.  I soon realized that I wanted to make a career out of managing my peers while doing something fun and meaningful…in my case, theatre.  After graduating, I worked in publicity at NBC Universal for a while and eventually came across two friendly Bostonians looking to change the theatre scene in Los Angeles.  The rest is history.

As the Managing Director of the Lyric Theatre, I hope to create an environment that welcomes and embraces people who are enthusiastic and passionate about theatre.  I’ve always felt that being in a cast is like being in a family and I want to re-create that feeling at the Lyric.  As a kid, I often turned to my “family” for support and that was part of the inspiration behind the creation of the La Brea Barnstormers, our children’s theatre camp.  Through this camp and the Lyric, I hope to create a warm and friendly place for people to enjoy the arts…maybe with trampolines too!
